Sinop Festivali at the Explorers Club
On Thursday, May 4th, in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in New York and Sinop Kale Excavations, an archaeological expedition directed by Club members Dr. Owen Doonan FN ’16 and Dr. Alexander Bauer FR ’15, The Explorers Club will be holding a special event celebrating the vibrant culture and history of Sinop, Turkey. The event will feature Turkish food, music, and history focused on the famous Black Sea city of Sinop and its most infamous character, the “Poison King” Mithridates the Great, who dreamed of conquering the whole Black Sea region and for years fought off Roman imperial ambitions in Asia Minor.
